Who Wore It Better?

Roland Mouret Galaxy Dress

Roland Mouret's 'Galaxy' dress is much more than your basic Little Black Dress - it's an iconic piece in recent fashion history. Originally debuted in Fall 2005, the hourglass-enhancing knee-length sheath was the object of every fashionista's affection, being sold out around the world. After a six-year hiatus, the Galaxy made a triumphant return in 2011, and since it's inception in 2005, it has become a firm red carpet favourite amongst celebrities. Most recently, Halle Berry wore the famous frock, which inspired this version of 'Who Wore It Better'.

This past weekend, Halle Berry brought the Galaxy dress back onto the 2012 style scene at an event in Beverly Hills. The 46-year-old dame kept her look polished with a pair of Jimmy Choo pointy-toe 'Anouk' pumps.

Miranda Kerr pulled her original 2005 Galaxy dress out of the archives for a trip to the Tribeca Film Festival in April last year. The stunning Aussie model added a pop of hot pink with suede Christian Louboutin pumps, and carried a Lanvin bag.

Estonian supermodel Carmen Kass wore a much shorter version of the chic pleated sleeve frock during Milan Fashion Week in September 2009. She paired her sexy look with chunky black leather sandals.

Back in 2006, Burlesque queen Dita von Teese added her retro style to the little black dress with 40's curls, cherry red lips and nails and plain black pumps.

Victoria Beckham was photographed in the Galaxy dress on numerous occasions, but the one that stands out is her appearance at a media awards event in London in December 2005. Victoria accompanied her look with nude and black pumps.

And finally, the first person to start the Roland Mouret 'Galaxy' dress trend was the lovely Cameron Diaz back in September 2005. The blonde actress made a statement by pairing it with vivid blue ankle tie-up sandals by Jimmy Choo. She also carried a Bottega Veneta clutch.

The dress was originally shown on the Roland Mouret Fall 2005 runway by model Erin Wasson. The Galaxy dress gained fame for its powermesh bodice that claims to sculpt any shape from size 6 to 16. Made from wool and stretch felt with a square neck and drape cap-sleeves, the Galaxy dress retails at £1450 or $2322 via rolandmouret.com

Who wore it better? Here is a recap to help you decide.

Isn't it amazing that the Galaxy LBD hasn't lost it's chic appeal over the course of 7 years. I think the dress fits the best on Miranda Kerr and Dita von Teese but the prize for best heels goes to Cameron Diaz in those stunning blue Jimmy Choo's.

What are your thoughts?
